The Madách Theatre, Budapest is the first theatre in the world to win the right to stage its own independent ("non-replica") version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit musical The Phantom of the Opera.

This very fact represents both an exceptional opportunity and a splendid acknowledgment by Andrew Lloyd Webber of the talent of Tamás Szirtes and his colleagues.

This extraordinary theatrical event will be first staged on 30 May 2003. All those attending the premiere of The Phantom of the Opera or any of the following performances will be able to enjoy this unique masterpiece in a totally new interpretation, with new stage design, costumes and choreography.
